Special H1N1 Alert

Due to the current situation of the H1N1 influenza, campers who feel unwell before the camp should rest at home.

In addition, if you have travelled to H1N1 infected countries 2 weeks before the camp, please inform us via e-mail, the dates and destination of travel. The list of H1N1 infected countries can be found at the MOH website: www.moh.gov.sg

The camp will carry on as usual. Rest assured that the camp committee will be taking safety measures for prevention of H1N1.

Welcome to the registration blog for the 2009 NUS Campus Crusade for Christ Freshman Orientation Camp! This year the camp will be held in NUS grounds at Eusoff Hall, from 6-8 July 2009! We're having a special price of $35 for all freshmen who will be matriculating in the coming academic year of 2009-2010, and a standard price of $40 for all seniors who're already with us in Christ. :)

Our camp theme for this year is for you and everybody to Taste The Source! For we know and boldly proclaim Christ Jesus to be the one and only source of life, source of joy and source of peace - and once you drink from this cup that Jesus has to offer, you'll never be the same again!

But just as this invitation is to you, it is just as extended to everyone else there is around you - for the source not only makes you whole and new, but as you take in Jesus into your life, you'll be able to draw everyone around you closer to the heart of God.

So do come, and experience the joy of being with Christ this coming semester break to refresh, renew and realign yourself with God! And for those who wish to know more about what God and His family has to offer you, do come join us for a wonderful time of fellowship as well!

Sunday, June 28 2009: Hi everyone! The payment collection is now over, but if you still wish to sign for FOC, it's not too late, really! Just sign up through the blog, and bring all required documents together with the camp fees on the 1st day of the camp itself as well! :) Remember, it's at Eusoff Hall, NUS!

Wednesday, June 10, 2009: A new indemnity form has been uploaded on the blog registration page. There was an error in the indemnity form for download under the registration link: the date of the camp is 6-8 July and not 7-9 July as in the previous indemnity form. For those who've noticed the error in the indemnity form and who have been telling us about it, thank you so much!

Wednesday, March 25, 2009: Many apologies! The camp fees have been corrected and adjusted again! This is the final adjustment and no further adjustments will be made! So sorry for all the changes! The final camp costs stand at $35 for Freshmen (AY09-10) and $40 for Seniors.

1. Pray for the resources (logistics, camp expenses): God our Jehovah Jireh will surely provide our needs! Let's trust our Father that He will definitely source for us the equipments we need e.g. projector screen!

2. Pray for the venue for the activities: let's earnestly seek and ask Him for a perfect venue, large and near to Eusoff Hall, to carry out our activities.

3. Pray for the active involvement of the crusaders in FOC: pray that the bookmarks which will be given to the SMs to be given to their disciples will encourage crusaders to get involved in FOC!

Let's continue to have faith in God our Father! It's either faith or no faith! Let's dream for God too! Dream for a wonderfully blessed camp in which both freshmen and seniors will be tremendously blessed by God, filled by the Holy Spirit, and geared up to do the works of God! Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to burn this fire of passion for God in every Crusader!

Tuesday, March 24, 2009:

1. Continue to pray for our accommodation, and have faith that God will bless us with the best one he has in mind. :)

2. Pray for God's provision for our resources and fundings (i.e. logistics, camp expenses etc.), for He who is our Jehovah Jireh will surely provide for us. :)

3. Pray for the sub-committees that are going to be formed by each FOC committee member, that God will bond each and everyone within their respective committees tightly. Pray also for unity between the FOC committee and the sub-committees as well!.

Monday, March 16, 2009:

1. Pray for ourselves, our FOC committee members.
Projects, tests, reports, assignments. They seem to be endless. Let's pray for one another; So that in the midst of all these, we will continue to abide in God. To experience His perfect love and perfect peace. Love and Peace no one could give except Him. Let's also pray for His joy and His power while at work too~!

For we need to be happy in order to be productive~ Even in exams. Have you heard that happy people do better in exams? Yup, researches proved that. Okay back to the topic. Let's commit to be Happy, Loving, Joyful, Peaceful this week~! For we have Him! And of course, do encourage crusaders to pray for us too! =)

We (FOC committee) could start off by praying for one particular person in our committee per day, just one person will do. just bless that person, pray as the Holy Spirit leads us (: Yay~!

2. Pray that Crusaders will rise up enthusiastically on this wonderful opportunity - be part of FOC.
Together we make impact on the freshmen's lives! Yup, it's time for them to rise up and be part of this wonderful & important camp. They'll be leading the freshmen too~ Let's pray that God will place passion, enthusiasm in their hearts, so that they will seize this great opportunity!

3. Pray for our accomodation - Eusoff Hall!
Our accomodation is still pending - unconfirmed. Let's secure this place by praying~!! Pray for vacancies. Pray for smooth procedure. Pray for quick reply from Eusoff Hall. Pray that Eusoff Hall will be ours. For God is the great Almighty God~! Let's trust TOTALLY in Him!

Tuesday, March 10, 2009:

1. God, may You see us through this FOC. it's all about You. Not by our own strength and abilities, but by Yours. By Your grace, we stand. Please pray for the FOC committee members, mostly. As time flies, we'll be so caught up with all the school work, all the stress, all the planning, that we might possibly lose the big picture, the big purpose He has in mind. Pray that whatever we do, we do it to honour Him. That in the end, it's still all about Him. Praise God! Pray that we'll grow MIGHTILY in Him. Not just by a little, by MIGHTILY. That this camp will not be just another christian camp, but truly, a camp where we'll experience HIS PRESENCE. I believe He has a WHOLE LOT to reveal to us. So let's just trust in Him that He'll guide us along the way.

2. God, You're the Jehovah Jireh, our provider. God we believe You'll provide for all of us. God as You said, ask and you'll receive, seek and you'll find. Thank You Lord, for this AWESOME privilege.

We just have to ask, and believe in His faith. Then we'll receive. How GREAT are His promises!! For this week, I think we'll all be looking for resources, e.g. accommodation, logistics, etc. Let's ask then. Pray that He'll provide our needs. Let's not be discouraged if let's say we can't get what we wanted. He has greater things in mind! We just have to expect the unexpected. We'll just have to believe that He'll not only provide for us, but He'll provide the BEST for us. He wants the BEST for His camp.

3. This camp is for the freshmen. Let's pray that as they look through the camp booklet, Taste The Source will stand out. Pray that God will place a desire to know, seek Him better in the freshies' heart. Pray that God will place a longing to be part of this christian community in their hearts too. Because God is already doing His mighty works. Let's also pray that these wonderful individuals will be blessed in this camp. That they'll truly experience His Presence. That God will reveal Himself personally to each of them.

The NUS Campus Crusade ministry is huge, with ministries in various faculties that span the entire NUS campus! They are, in no particular order: Science, Arts and Engineering!

The Science ministry consists of the Faculty of Science and Computing, the Arts ministry comprises of fellow Crusaders from the School of Business, School of Computing, Yong Siew Toh Music Conservatory and Faculty of Law as well, while the Engineering ministry combines students from both Engineering and the School of Design and Environment!

How We Started!

Campus Crusade for Christ was founded in 1951 by Bill and Vonette Bright as a non-denominational Christian organization. From the beginning, God's calling for this ministry was to, "Win the campus for Christ today; win the world for Christ tomorrow." Today, CCC's ministry spans to almost 200 countries and covers 800 languages, including seventy different ministries and ministry projects.

Camp Details!

Since quite a few people have been raising queries about what the upcoming Campus Crusade Freshmen Orientation Camp will be like at NUS, here's an overview of what to expect from this camp.

And yes, you're encouraged to also bring any non-Christian friends who may be interested in finding out how about Christianity! This camp is not only just for us Christians, but also to welcome any who might want to be part of our family.

Fellowship and Food for Thought

Every FOC, there'll always be activities that inject warmth, realization, inspiration as well as interaction between our Crusaders. So what's up this year?

Games and Icebreakers!

As with any FOC one might expect fun and games to interact with and know one another; this FOC is no exception! Don't worry, the games aren't that heavily ladened with spiritual content or biblical references - but our game hosts and all of you people will be spiritual people!

The games can't be revealed now, but be rest assured that if you'd like to bring non-Christian friends along, they will not feel offended or comfortable with the nature of our games! It's just a chance to provide a time of interaction so that everyone will know who everyone else in the Crusade family is. :)

Skits and Sharing

There'll not only be games, but also individual Orientation Group Leaders (OGLs) who'll be leading all of you in quiet time, sharing with you their experiences in NUS - you could ask them about their personal lives, or even ask them to tell you more about NUS before you come into this institution!

If you're worried your non-Christian friends will find such sharing uncomfortable, don't worry! They can always use this opportunity to find out more about the system of NUS and how it works - but most importantly, we get to show them the grace of God by being gracious and helpful ourselves. :) We will definitely make them feel at home where we are at Eusoff.

You can also expect some impromptu skits, that will really crack you up (that is, subject to the antics of your OGL, so pray for a fun one, haha).

Special Movie Screening!

This year, there'll be a special movie screening during one of the nights (The movie title cannot be revealed before the camp begins, but rest assured it is an award winning movie!), which is persuasive, touching and moving in a very special way. Since there is no time, the webmaster himself shall comment on this movie:

"It's the first movie this year (2009) to have made me shed so many tears of joy and realization, to learn of the truth with so much visual impact is really quite an experience I would say. Five stars!" - Yeo Yong Kiat, NUS Science, Year 4 Chemistry Student.

Look forward to a wonderful time of discussion after the movie- you'll find that you'll be filled with so many new ideas about God, love, family and even relationships, things that you always took for granted, and never knew how to go about. The theme of the movie is about how we go about seeing the love of God changing our lives, and how we should be shining with what God has given us.

And yes, do feel free to bring your own soda, popcorn and any other snacks to munch on if you'd like. Bring more to share! :)

Get to Know the Staff

Our Campus Crusade for Christ full-time staff are actually young! And not just young at heart, but really young! (well, some of them are, and the webmaster was really surprised to find out when he stepped into Crusade).

Staff play a more important role in our lives in NUS than you might think; want to know more? Than come know them yourselves, personally, face-to-face, to see how larger-than-life full-time staff can be!

Word and Worship

As children of God, we can't possibly factor God out of this camp, can we? So there's always time for listening to His word, and just being at His feet, worshiping him. :)

Student-Led Worship

If you're thinking that a pastor and his worship team's coming down from church to come lead you in hymns and songs, think again! We're offering a more personal touch in FOC, where we'll be having our very own student worship leaders leading you in a time of worship. Many Crusaders are actually inspired to take up the role of a worship leader in Crusade after witnessing how God has empowered those that lead us. :) So do come, and learn from your peers how God works mightily!

And yes, even our hosts and emcees are NUS-bred, 100% students. :)

Personal Testimonies

This FOC, we'll be having a speaker from each region of NUS (the various faculties) share with us how God has been leading them and working in their lives; other than their rich experiences, come also to refresh yourself! Who knows, someone might be going through the same exact situation or struggle you're going through now! Let God touch your life in this upcoming FOC. :)

Devotion

And how can we neglect lessons from God based on His word? There will be a guest speaker that will bring us through our theme verse, on how Christians and non-Christians alike can taste the source that is God! Learn how the invitation is for everyone, and yes, anyone, for God's will is for everyone to be saved!

And loved. :)

So come, and you'll realise that you may not just be a student who happens to be a Christian, but a Christian who happens to be a student.

How to Register:

1. Fill in and submit the online registration form below.
2. Print out the indemnity form. If you are under 21, please get your parents to fill in the bottom half of the indemnity form. (Above 21s should fill in only the top half.)
3. Make a photocopy of your matriculation card (for seniors) or your NUS acceptance letter (for freshies).
4. Prepare your cash/cheque (payable to NUS Campus Crusade for Christ).
5. Submit (2), (3) and (4) on the day of payment
